Renault could quit F1, says Bernie Ecclestone
1 Sep 2009Bernie Ecclestone fears Renault could leave Formula One over allegations that they told Nelson Piquet to crash his car to help Fernando Alonso win last year's Singapore Grand Prix.
The Formula One chief said: "Renault leaving the sport is a real danger. I hope that it isn't like that but it's the sort of thing that might happen."
Ecclestone added that Renault team principal Flavio Briatore denies the claim and the Italian was "well and truly upset" over the latest cheating allegations to hit the sport.

A drug cheat on a bike, or letting your team mate past to win on the last lap, aint quite the same as ordering a driver to crash. Get a grip FFS, this , if proven, is totally out of order. As far as being "too late to prove anything", that is rubbish. The telemetry readings from the race are still available, and they can tell a great deal about how the car was driven prior to the crash. They can tell exactly when the accelator and brakes were applied, and when the steering was moved. Were talking high tec here, not a bleeding go-kart.

It was last year! Forget about it and move on. You cannot go back - allegedly many Olympic medals and Tour de Frances were won by drug cheats and it is to late to prove anything.

The whole 'sport' should just pack up and call it quits.

to be honest, team order has been in the history of f1, what is a big fuss, it was a simple team order which was done covertly and is that what the austrian GP punishment was all about regarding Ferrari? one should not execute it so obviously???
