Harlequins insisted they would not be rushed into replacing Dean Richards, their disgraced former director of rugby, despite claims they could miss out on Ian McGeechan.
Quins chief executive Mark Evans, who survived the Bloodgate scandal which cost Richards his job, is drawing up a shortlist of possible replacements, with Quins chairman Malcolm Wall and director Sean Fitzpatrick in the running.
McGeechan is available, having enjoyed huge success in the same role at London Wasps before leaving the club in the summer.
But Evans said: "We haven't spoken to anyone and will not be rushed into any decision. I am well aware we have lost the three opening Guinness Premiership games but I am not unduly worried."
Former Lions head coach McGeechan is touring Britain and Ireland promoting his autobiography and with his schedule revolving around trips to Ulster, Munster and Leeds in the coming weeks, any approach from Quins would have to be fitted into that schedule.
