Juan Martin del Potro makes a shocking return
6 Oct 2009US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro suffered a 6-4, 6-4 defeat against world No189 Edouard RogerVasselin in the first round of the Japan Open today.
The Argentine refused to blame sickness and jet-lag after losing his first match since winning his maiden grand slam title last month.
"I didn't feel 100 per cent," said Del Potro. "Everyone could see that. I had a little bit of jet-lag and a stomach ache but that's not the reason I lost. He played a great game."
French qualifier RogerVasselin said: "This is unbelievable."
