Rory McIlroy birdied the last two holes to keep his hopes alive in the Volvo World Match Play Championship in Spain today.

The Northern Irishman, heavily beaten by Angel Cabrera in the first of the group matches, beat Simon Dyson by two holes.

And with Cabrera going down to Henrik Stenson by the same margin, all four of them still had the chance to reach tomorrow's semi-finals at Finca Cortesin.

Lee Westwood hit back from a hammering by Jeev Milkha Singh to beat fellow Englishman Ross Fisher by two holes. That group also saw all four players with one win and one defeat as Singh lost by three to Camilo Villegas.

Meanwhile, Daniel Chopra fired a six-under-par 65 to take the second-round clubhouse lead at the weather-hit Singapore Open.

The Swede's seven-under-par total put him two shots clear of those rivals who had completed 36 holes.

First-round leader Ian Poulter and Chan Yih-shin are also on seven-under but had yet to reach the turn before play was stopped.
