We're still some days away from when I become world heavyweight champion but the opposition's mind games have already started.
I arrived in Nuremberg yesterday and was guided towards one of the worst hotels I've ever seen and smelt.
Not only that, we were booked on a flight to Nuremberg at 7am. That meant I had to be out of my London hotel at 5am and, as a result, didn't get any sleep Sunday night.
We usually train late when in London and, by the time I was finished in the gym, it had already gone midnight. By the time I packed my bags, it was then time to leave.
After the flight issues, I arrived in Germany wary of any further tricks my opponent's promoters might pull. Low and behold, once we got there and were shown to our hotel, the phrase being 'away from home' hit me.
The hotel we'd been booked to stay in was in the middle of nowhere. The only live things in sight were the vermin running around the kitchen floors. The Bates Motel gave off a happier vibe.
Once I was shown to my room, the problems got worse. For some reason, there was no light switch. That may not have been such a bad thing when you consider how ugly and messy the place was.
The beds, too, were a problem. They'd effectively shoved two child-size beds together, pulled the sheets across, and hoped nobody would notice. Eager to test them out, I settled down on my bed and nearly fell through the gap in the middle.
Anyway, we've since moved to a five-star hotel in Nuremberg. I feel as if I've just slipped Valuev's first lumbering right hand and am now about to explode with my response.
