Gallacher replaces Gordon

9 Nov 2009

St Mirren goalkeeper Paul Gallacher has been called into the Scotland squad for Saturday's friendly in Wales, the Scottish Football Association have confirmed.

The former Dundee United player won the last of his eight caps in a 1-0 win in Estonia in May, 2004.

Scotland boss George Burley sent for Gallacher after number one keeper Craig Gordon pulled out.

The 26-year-old suffered a fractured arm in a collision with Jermain Defoe during Tottenham's 2-0 win at White Hart Lane at the weekend.

Rangers defender Steven Whittaker is a doubt after he was taken off during the 2-1 win over St Mirren with a hamstring complaint.

A Scottish Football Association spokesperson said: "Craig is obviously out but we are still waiting on news on Steven Whittaker.

"The players are not due to meet up until Tuesday morning at Glasgow airport so we will have a better idea then."
