Complete confidence: Argentina skipper Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe

We are expecting to win, says Pumas captain

Argentina will head to Twickenham more in expectation than hope owing to a shift in mentality sparked by their historic win in England's back yard three years ago.

The Pumas have been dining at world rugby's top table ever since their third-placed finish at the 2007 World Cup.

The catalyst for their success in that tournament was arguably their 25-18 win at Twickenham in November 2006.

And the current belief in the Pumas' squad is such that anything other than a victory on Saturday will be regarded as a genuine disappointment.

"We have a young team but Argentina have done a lot of amazing things in the last few years and it gives us the confidence to think that we can really do it," said captain Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe.

"We are very excited - it could be a great opportunity to consolidate and make that big step forward. And we have the mentality that we know we can do it.

"But we also know that if we are not up for it, then we will have a really bad day.

"We're going to have to fight a lot in the rucks since they base their game on slowing down delivery from the ruck."

Argentina coach Santiago Phelan refuses to believe an injury-ravaged England team still hurting from their turgid display in the 18-9 defeat to Australia last weekend are there for the taking.

"If you are playing England at Twickenham, it doesn't matter if they are first or last in the rankings," Phelan said.

"And I thought they played well against Australia. Their first-half was very good but Australia are an excellent team themselves."
