Combative clash: Brendan Venter will want to make life even more uncomfortable for Peter de Villiers, whose South Africa side have lost successive games against Leicester and France.

Brendan Venter shows no mercy to countrymen

Saracens director of rugby Brendan Venter will ensure his players are fired up for tonight's clash with South Africa at Wembley after being accused of "unethical behaviour" by opposite number Peter de Villiers.

The Springbok coach made the accusation after Venter's presence was noted during the world champions' training session at Sarries' headquarters.

Venter said: "The Springboks accepted an invitation to train at our club training ground and I was watching their Test team going through a skills session. It was not even the team we are playing.

"For Peter de Villiers to suggest that this was in any way 'unethical' is unnecessary and unwarranted."

Given Venter's combative nature as a former Springbok centre, he will want to make life even more uncomfortable for De Villiers, whose side have lost successive games against Leicester and France.

Sarries have their own Springbok contingent at Vicarage Road, led by captain Wikus van Heerden and featuring fellow countrymen Neil de Kock, Derick Hougaard and Schalk Brits.
