James Eustace will venture into the unknown as War Artist heads for the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin on 13 December.

The six-year-old has bounced back from a colic operation at the start of the year, winning the Group 2 Goldene Peitsche at Baden-Baden in August and beaten narrowly by Total Gallery and Fleeting Spirit in the Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp.

Eustace, who trains War Artist for German businessman Rupert Plersch, said: "He's very well and he flies out on Saturday. I'll be going on Monday and I'm looking forward to going somewhere I've never been.

"He did some work at Kempton last week and we're delighted. In terms of his wellbeing, he is as good as he has been at any stage this year.

"What we're banking on is that the race has been won by an Australian-bred horse on each occasion it has been run - and he's Australian bred."
