Brian McDermott is wiping Super League slate clean at Harlequins RL

29 Jan 2010

Brian McDermott does not feel the poor finish to last season will affect his Harlequins RL side when they begin their 2010 Super League campaign tomorrow.

Quins seemed on course for the play-offs last year until a run of just one win from their last 12 games saw them finish 11th in the 14-team table.

Ahead of the home game against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, McDermott said: "Last year we we're a very good team for two thirds of the season. That's where we're aiming for and what our goals are based on.

"We're not going to coach on the back of any negatives and we're not going to start digging and looking for answers to something that there possibly are no answers to. The boys' attitude has never been an issue. They're ready for the new season."

Chad Randall takes over the captaincy from the injured Rob Purdham, while Luke Dorn, Lamont Bryan and Jon Wells are also on the casualty list.

London-born second rower Ben Bolger is in line for his debut.
