Pakistan produced a shambolic batting display as world champions England took charge of tonight's Twenty20 clash at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff.

England, seeking a world-record seventh successive win in cricket's shortest format, were left chasing just 90 to secure an effortless 2-0 series win.

Pakistan's batsmen either struggled to get the ball away or holed out to reckless shots in a chaotic comedy of errors. Their 89 was their lowest total in Twenty20 history, falling well short of the 125 for nine they mustered against Australia in Melbourne earlier this year.

And Pakistan's miserable performance was witnessed by a suitably sparse crowd as England enjoyed overwhelming supremacy.

Seamers Tim Bresnan (three for 10) and Stuart Broad (two for 18) wrecked the top order, taking two wickets each as Pakistan slumped to 22 for four. Tight bowling by spinners Michael Yardy and Graeme Swann then confirmed England's dominance.

Yardy conceded runs from just six of his 24 deliveries, finishing with nought for 10, while Swann took two for 27 as Pakistan rarely threatened to release a vice-like grip England's bowlers had on them.

Umar Akmal, Pakistan's top scorer in their defeat two days ago, briefly threatened a revival with two straight sixes off Swann, yet it predictably did not last.

Swann soon exacted his revenge by bowling him for 17, leaving Pakistan on 44 for five and England relentlessly powering on despite barely having to break sweat.

Mohammad Hafeez was run out following a painstaking 14 off 32 balls, before Fawad Alam edged his first ball straight to Steven Davies, and the innings closed with Ryan Sidebottom taking two quick wickets in successive balls before last man Saeed Ajmal blocked the hat-trick delivery, ahead of Bresnan bowling Shoaib Akhtar.
