Pakistan claim win in World Cup battle

14 Aug 2009

The Pakistan Cricket Board today ended their legal battle with the ICC after agreeing a pay-off over the loss of co-hosting rights for the 2011 World Cup.

In the wake of the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore on 3 March, the ICC decided Pakistan would have their 14 matches re-allocted to India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

That prompted legal action, which the PCB have now dropped. Their chairman Ijaz Butt said: "We will get the hosting rights fee of £6.3 million and the ICC will also compensate us a substantial amount, which at this point of time I don't want to reveal."
