Luke Wright to miss rest of series

16 Sep 2009

All-rounder Luke Wright has been ruled out for the remaining two matches of England's one-day series against Australia with a toe injury.

Wright was hit on the big toe of his left foot while facing the bowling machine at the National Cricket Performance centre of Monday, and was left needing stitches.

A late fitness test ruled him out of the side that slumped to a fifth consecutive NatWest series defeat at Trent Bridge yesterday and he will now miss tomorrow's day-night contest in Nottingham and the seventh clash in Durham.

His fitness will be assessed next week with regard to his participation in the Champions Trophy.

Hampshire captain Dimitri Mascarenhas was summoned to link up with the side on Monday night and will remain with the squad after impressing yesterday.
