17 Sep 2009

England seamer Stuart Broad has been ruled out of the remaining two one-day internationals against Australia due to a knee injury.

The right-armer will be miss today's sixth match of the series at Trent Bridge, as well as Sunday's final game at Chester-le-Street due to inflammation of the tendon in his right knee.

Broad was also rested for the third ODI earlier in the series, but is expected to be fit to play in the Champions Trophy which begins in South Africa next week.

England were able to replace Broad with James Anderson for today's match with the Lancastrian returning from his scheduled two-match break.

Broad will now have a week to rest and ensure his fitness for England's first match of the Champions Trophy against Sri Lanka on September 25.

England have been drawn in Group B of the tournament alongside the hosts South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka with the final at SuperSport Park in Centurion on October 5.
