England believe Paul Collingwood will be fit for the tour of South Africa after he was forced to pull out of the Twenty20 Champions League in India due to injury.
A torn buttock muscle has ruled the Durham batsman out of Delhi Daredevils' campaign, with the 15-day tournament beginning in Bangalore on Thursday.
England already have injury concerns over Kevin Pietersen ahead of their departure early next month, but it is thought Collingwood will recover in time.
"Paul underwent a scan yesterday on the injury he sustained during the ICC Champions Trophy," read a statement from the England & Wales Cricket Board.
"The scan revealed a grade two tear, but it is anticipated that, with rest and rehabilitation, Paul will be available for the tour of South Africa."
Collingwood sustained the injury during the semi-final defeat by Australia last Friday, and he becomes the second England player after Pietersen to be forced out of the Champions League.
Pietersen's slow recovery from surgery on his Achilles tendon meant he was unable to take his place in Bangalore Royal Challengers' squad for the competition.
Collingwood's injury is similar to the one which kept Stuart Broad out of the Champions Trophy semi-final defeat to Australia.
