Jonathan Trott dreams of 'home' ton

Jonathan Trott has set his sights on making his first one-day hundred for England at the stadium he used to call home.

The Cape Town-born batsman is due to make his eighth limited-overs appearance for his adopted country against South Africa on Friday, after his 87 in Centurion two days ago helped England take a 1-0 lead in the five-match one-day series.

Trott made a century on his Test debut in the Ashes-clinching victory over Australia at The Oval in August, and the Warwickshire batsman now hopes to repeat the feat at Newlands.

"I was a little bit disappointed not to get to three figures in Centurion," said Trott. "But maybe I can on Friday. It's just the same as when I walked out against Australia in that first Test match. I try not to get too wound up about it."

Meanwhile, Ian Botham has warned Andrew Strauss's side that they have a long way to go before achieving their aim of being the world's strongest Test side.

Botham said: "Never mind about getting to No1, we're No5 at the moment. Our batsmen don't make enough runs. In the Ashes, Andrew Strauss carried the batting until Jonathan Trott turned up at The Oval."
