Kenwyne Jones
Wanted man: Kenwyne Jones is thought to be on Harry Redknapp's radar

Spurs still hanker after Kenwyne Jones

Tottenham have resurrected their interest in Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones but won't be able to move until they have sold Darren Bent.

Spurs tried to sign Jones in January but had a £20million bid turned down by the Sunderland board. The 24-year-old then signed a new four-year contract.

However, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is still keen to sign the striker. A swap deal involving Bent appeared most likely but Sunderland have lost interest since signing Fraizer Campbell from Manchester United.

Sunderland value Jones higher than Bent and have been scared off by Tottenham's £16m asking price for the former Charlton forward.

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has warned Arsenal against any attempt to snatch Brede Hangeland away from Craven Cottage despite the defender's failure to sign a new contract. The Norwegian has not travelled with Fulham on their pre-season tour of Australia but Hodgson said: "He's our player, he's got a two-year deal."

Gianfranco Zola is interested in signing former Chelsea team-mate Eidur Gudjohnsen, who is ready to leave Barcelona, and Brazilian star Mancini. "I like them very much," said Zola, whose squad flew to Austria today after beating Grays 2-1 in a pre-season friendly. They face German Cup holders Werder Bremen on Saturday.

More money than sense!!!!!!!!

I know Harry has already ruled out getting a Champions League place next season, but buying Kenwyne Jones is certainly not the way forward. Bringing him in would be a completely sideways move. He's no better than Bent or Pavlyuchenko but will cost more than we would receive for either of those players.

Would be a completely pointless signing and shows that Harry is most likely going to splurge a ton of money on mediocre players without moving us forwards. Waste of time.

Why on earth would we want to sell Bent, who scores regularly, to buy Jones??? Oh of course, I forgot we will then realise our mistake & buy him back! Or could it be our latest transfer policy of selling Chimbonda, then buying him back, not to play him & then sell him again. Does anyone know what is going on at WHL? Quite frankly its a mess.

Well, i did have my doubts about Harry, another manager wanting to break the squad up to suit themselves, rather than look at a squad who could be breaking into the top 4. The man wants to bu Joe Cole (injury prone), we have the likes of Dos Santos, buying Chimbonda, then not playing him makes no sense, surely he would of had his targets by now, don't see or hear many players wanting to play for him now..

We the supporters can see who to get rid of, and keep, but harry, wants dead wood players, like Jones,Bellamy, come on, are you serious?
We have spent too much money on rubbish, rather than quality players...We need a good quality coach....

Be careful, Harry, it's all going rather flat before we've even kicked a ball. And, by the way, anyone fancy us for a winning start against Liverpool?

I reckon we'll have a great pre-season, followed by a long run of defeats - then, it'll be Harry out of the door and Pleat holding the reins. Anyone disagree?

Well.. again... this proves Harry's not your man.. he's one of those guys to steady a ship befor eyou bring in a truly world class coach to build on..

Spurs should have given him the one mil and said thanks for that and hunted for someone who could take us forward and attract some real quality players to our side.

I can't see us ever getting out of this mid top ten finishes with the type of player we've been linked with. Kenwyne Jones, John Carew obviously HR fancies a little and large pairing which convinces me JD will be our main striker next season.

Dider went to seville.. another so called flop who's playing.. Champions league next season.. this outfits a joke.. I'm already regretting purchasing these season tickets for this year!!!

Bent is hardly a flop.... He scored 14 goals last season and more the season before.

I wouldn't change any of our four strikers unless someone amazing came along....

Dont think Jones is any better than the strikers we have already. Dont understand why Harry is so keen on Jones, Harry should stick with Defoe and Pav as our main two forwards, sell Keane and Bent and maybe sign a decent 3rd choice striker for half the money Sunderland want for Jones. Simple really!!
