What does the future hold? John Terry is being courted by Manchester City

Gianluca Vialli warns John Terry over move

Gianluca Vialli has told John Terry he'll be making a mistake if he leaves Chelsea for Manchester City just to increase his salary.

Terry is still to publicly commit his future to the club amid strong interest from Manchester City, who are prepared to make him the highest-paid player in the world on £200,000 a week plus bonuses.

Chelsea hope to resolve the situation before they fly to Seattle for the start of their pre-season tour of the USA on Thursday.

Vialli, who handed Terry his professional debut against Aston Villa in October 1998, is in no doubt what the defender should do. He said: "John has been at the club all his career and it'll be a big decision to go because of money.

"I understand a player thinking about supporting his family but at the end of your career I don't see what is the difference between having 50 or £61million in the bank. You are still very wealthy. I don't think he will leave Chelsea."

Terry is paid £130,000 a week at Chelsea and the club are believed to be prepared to give him a pay-rise to take his earnings up to £150,000 a week.

One of the 28-year-old's other concerns is the lack of quality signings Chelsea have made this summer but they appear to be closing in on AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo.

The 30-year-old is also wanted by Atletico Madrid but reports in Spain say the club have pulled out of the race because they believe he is going to Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Florent Malouda is not worried at the prospect of having to compete with new £18m signing Yuri Zhirkov for a place in the side next season.

Zhirkov poses a threat as he can play at left-wing as well as left-back but Malouda said: "He is a good player and you know when you are in the Chelsea squad that there is competition between everyone. It's not a problem for me, it's a good thing for the club."

john terry made an early indication way before city 2nd offer

he was AFRAID for the first time that he will lose his captaincy

the attraction of him RULING the roost at city appeals to him .

His INFLUENCE at Chelsea was not as strong as in previous seasons.

he will eventually state that it was not the MONEY that tempted him which i believe.

And STAY at Chelsea because when his career is over thats were he will be remembered.

Enough for the needy but never enough for the greedy. We used to call him Captain but I thing he is the new Joana and abromovic must throw him out of the boat.JT is now stand for just trouble. he should be glade he is still in the chelsea team, 4 someone who cost them the big price in europe. If i was the boss of chelsea i could drive him to manchester myself and dump him there for free. ain't nothing but love but don't know where football is going in our days.

John terry has or is losing the value of being a professional footballer in this country.

.He has already lost the faith of some chelsea fans .He has allowed the media to dictate this situation.

in THE END john terry is no different to any other player the soul of british football has been lost by the greed of money

John Terry should know that trophy is bigger than money, he should be considering what he will be getting as a CHELSEA LEGEND, he should look at other English Internationals like Frankie, Joe and Ashley. He means a lot to Chelsea fc, he should be considering what he will loose by leaving Chelsea.

I think terry is fooling himself by even considering city offer, here is a man who cost us our first ever champions league nd if he want to go let him go at least we wil make millions 4rm his sale nd for sure he wil nt be a succes at city even he wil loose his armband to gerrard or ferdinand.pls get rid of him is bad example to d rest of d squad

It looks as if his silence on the reports have damaged his standing with us fans. If we take the money for him then we will miss his organisation ability and we will have to choose a new captain we cant choose any of the African players as they go away for a month. Ballack can't do it because then he would have to play every weeek which is unlikely. So Lampard is the obvious choice. I would like us to buy Lescott if we sell him. Left footed centre backs are always handy. His dreams of managing the club will stay as a dream if he goes.

Terry should move if he has to. It is his decision and also his future.
Those advising him not to move should check their conscience if they would not move for a better future.
Vialli should be asked why he left to play in another league, and why he chose to move around too. Simple answer is money to secure his future.
Chelsea will make money from selling JT, and JT needs to make about the last move of his career.

Whats up with these people.
Yes they are happy the money is there.
But these people are coming to
Manchester City to WIN TITLES AND TROPHIES.
Yes it might take a season or 2, but they are not coming JUST for the money, because we are going to win things sooner or later.

Blue, SW6.

It's NOT hype that Man. City have put in 2 recent official offers and nor is JT's "wall of silence" hype (or helpful). As Kevin Sullivan says here, the bond and respect between CFC fans and their Captain has been unequivocally broken - whatever happens. What's changed in the last five months (and since the Cup Final) to have seemingly altered his statements of wanting to play for Chelsea "forever" ? Whatever you, or anyone else, thinks, JT's behaviour over this has overshadowed the arrival of the new Manager (top, top class by the way) and continues to disrupt pre-season. At the very least it's selfish, thoughtless, ego-driven and, in my opinion, unforgiveable.

No one player is ever bigger than the Club, not even John - too much (player) power corrupts.

Trust Mr. Abramovich to do the right thing, as usual. Hail, Carletto - keep the faith.

Im a lifetime chelsea supporter and quite honestly i dont think Terry deserves the money he is on now let alone a rise he has a dodgy back , cant run , and while he was away we lost less games than when he was playing not to mention the one time we called on him to do his stuff he missed the kick that would have won us the champions league if man city are stupid enough to offer even 20 mill then get rid of him.

OMG! Stop beleiving what the papers print. They have to print something, how many players do they print are linked everywhere, every year & few are true. The have talked up this JT thing all by themselves to unsettle the player & the club & sell copies. Pathetic. I will be staggered if Terry leaves for City. Until anything offical released 'don't believe the hype'

As a lifelong supporter, all I can say is, if he needs to think about it, he should go! The damage has been done, breaking trust, is similar, to breaking a glass, and, glueing it back together, the cracks will still be there for all to see, and, never forget! What we also lose sight of is the fact that Terry, is a good player, but that is all, and, we have many good players who can take his position, and, possibly do an even better job. So, what I would say to JT is go mate, we do not need you, your silence tells us what is really in your heart!

if John Terry is complaining about the non signing of top quality players by Chelsea this season then he should have a rethink cos apart from Robinho, Tevez and Barry, no top quality player is in city for now.
It is a shame that he is even considering a move to city when players like Gerard, Fedinard and Fabregas all rejected city.

It would not surprise me if this is all driven by his agent. I have heard, and read, that he is quite a greedy fellow from those that have had dealings with him and this is driven by a desire, at worst, to get a chunk of cash from a possible new contract.

Terry should focus on football and getting his hands on the Champions league, which is something he will never achieve with Man City.

I wholeheartedly support my fellow countryman Njehia in Nairobi Kenya, that if he wants to go,let him board Man-city's plane to SA rather than Chelsea's to USA for pre-season tour.JT's deflated shot during UEFA CHAMPS FINAL in ROME between CHELSEA and MAN-U cost us the cup. He'd rather work on seeing chelsea wins the Championship this season to payback to us fans what he denied us on that unforgettable night, than been greedy.

Enough is enough with all this Terry stuff! It's high time Roman allows Terry to go to Man City ONLY for the right price (£40m or more)& at the same time, i advise Mark Hughes to start looking for another job as i can smell a big rat once Terry signs. Once all these so called big players have settled in, Man City would now go for Jose Mourinho. What would then happen to Mark Hughes, probably he'll become Man City's new director of football. Hughes, just watch your back because the moment JT arrives your days as the manager are numbered. Do not say that i did not warn you o!

I don't really know the true state of affairs with the great club Chelsea and Terry. But, if Chelsea have offended him in any way, Terry should remember what he has caused the club. What offence is it that he cannot forgive and concentrate on his football for Chelsea. He surely wants a pay rise. We will give him one WHEN CHELSEA wins the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE THIS SEASON. Terry must shut up and play football. After all, Alex and Carvalho are better defenders than him. But Chelsea needs Terry but can do greater things without him, BECAUSE , CHELSEA IS A COVENANT CLUB.
