Tough times: Bobby Zamora scored just two goals last season

Hull agree Bobby Zamora fee with Fulham

15 Jul 2009

Hull have agreed a £5million fee with Fulham for striker Bobby Zamora, the London club have announced.

The 28-year-old emerged as a Tigers target after they were beaten to the signings of Marc-Antoine Fortune and Fraizer Campbell by Celtic and Sunderland respectively.

Hull, who are also closing in on a deal for Sunderland's Daryl Murphy, will now hope to meet with the player to discuss terms.

Any deal could take time to come to fruition with Zamora currently on the Cottagers' pre-season tour of Australia.

Zamora scored just two goals last season after his £4.8million move from West Ham but his partnership with Andy Johnson was still largely deemed a success.

The former England Under-21 international made his name during a prolific spell with Brighton but he then failed to establish himself after a high-profile move to Tottenham.

He joined West Ham in February 2004 and scored 30 goals for the Upton Park club.

Manager Phil Brown is hoping to speak to Republic of Ireland international Murphy tomorrow after returning from a training camp in Italy.

While Brown attempts to strengthen his striking options, winger Bernard Mendy has indicated a desire to leave the KC Stadium if he gets a suitable offer.

The 27-year-old Frenchman made 33 appearances for City last season after joining on a free transfer from Paris St Germain.

Mendy told French radio station RMC: "I had a good last season with Hull City. I still have two years on my contract.

"When I came here I told the club officials that the project was interesting but I wanted to be free to go if there was an opportunity to play for a big club.

"I know that other English clubs are following me and I will know more in August.

"If there is a good offer from a good club, I will leave."
