Middlesbrough accept Aston Villa's Stewart Downing bid

Middlesbrough have confirmed they have accepted an undisclosed bid from Aston Villa for England winger Stewart Downing.

The fee, understood to be in the region of £12million, was agreed yesterday, and Downing is now heading for Villa's training ground to begin talks and undergo a medical.

A statement released Boro's official website, www.mfc.co.uk - Villa's own site issued a similar confirmation - this morning said: "Boro have accepted an undisclosed bid from Aston Villa for England international Stewart Downing.

"The 24-year-old has travelled down to the Midlands to discuss terms on the move and take a medical."
