Philippe Senderos
Out of favour: Philippe Senderos had a spell on loan at AC Milan last season

Arsenal to sell Philippe Senderos

Arsene Wenger has revealed defender Philippe Senderos will be allowed to leave Arsenal this summer.

The 24-year-old returned to the Gunners at the end of last season after a spell on loan at AC Milan but finds himself a long way down the defensive pecking order, being one of six recognised centre backs.

The Swiss could end up being used as a make-weight in any deal to sign Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh.

Speaking from Arsenal's tour of Austria about Senderos's future, manager Wenger said: "He has offers and it is open. He has come back here with us still looking for solutions but he is still yet to decide on his future."

I agree with Kanayo, in that while Senderos isn't good enough to be a first pick for us, I'd still much rather have him sitting on the bench than Silvestre.

A shame he didn't quite make the grade - it certainly wasn't through lack of effort, which you have to respect. As Jayt says, if he goes I'll be wishing him well.

Sendeross may be surplus to requirement and will agree to use him in a deal to sign a top striker or defender from Serie A. He is a top professional but need to play alongside more experience defenders to improve his game and I think a loan spell would have help his confidence a bit. I certainly will not stand in his way if he want to leave. Arsene should keep players that want to stay at the Club.

Is Senderos not better and younger than Silvestre???

He showed real potentials in 2006/7 session.

I suggest we keep him and hand over Silvestre to Bordeaux who have indicated intrest in him.

Meanwhile, can someone please beg Wenger to sign a decent stricker and a defensive midfielder before the session starts. If he gambles on these positions, he may as well forget next session.

I thought he did so well when we got to the finals of the Champions League against Barca 2006. We will miss him no doubt! If he goes, I wish him all the best.
