Set for Wigan: Victor Moses

Wigan close in on Palace kid Victor Moses

30 Jul 2009

Wigan expect to sign Crystal Palace youngster Victor Moses next week.

Talks between the clubs began yesterday and although no fee has been agreed, it is believed Wigan will make a down payment of around £2million for the 18-year-old winger.

Palace could eventually make £5m from the deal depending on Moses's performances for Wigan.

I know we are skint but this makes no sense on any level. Simon Jordan has worked wonders with our academy, slaughtered all concerned over the way it was pillaged during the Bostock affair and now seems to be using it to fund our debts. Clubs like Palace are better off building from the bottom up using the obvious talents that we are producing in good numbers. I know beggars cannot be choosers but Victor can do better than Wigan. We should resist the temptation to sell and he should wait a season or 2 when he will attract the attentions of the bigger clubs. I'm old enough to remember the team Venables created in the early eighties and we had no money then!
