Beckham happy at LA Galaxy

31 Jul 2009

David Beckham insists he is happy to continue playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy - and that he has the support of the people who matter at the Major League Soccer club.

The England midfielder clashed with a Galaxy fan just one week after an ugly confrontation with spectators during his first home game for the club after returning from a five-month loan spell in Italy with AC Milan.

However, he said: "When it happens sometimes it can become a distraction for me and the team.

"But the team have done well to deal with the situation and I've got the support of the players - that's the most important thing, to have the support of the team, owners and management.

"I'm happy to be playing for this team and I'm enjoying it."

Meanwhile, the 34-year-old hopes a minor back injury will not prevent him playing in Saturday's exhibition match against Barcelona.

He added on Sky Sports News: "I've got a slight back pain but it's not a problem.

"I've done some work in the gym and unless I get a bad reaction, I think it'll be fine. Fingers crossed it'll be good."
