Rosicky: Arsenal still have the talent to take title

Fit-again Tomas Rosicky has strongly hit back at critics who feel Arsenal will fail to win any silverware and believes the best players are still playing for the club.

After seeing two of their star names - Mathieu Flamini and Alexander Hleb - leave the club a year ago, this summer Gunners fans have already seen leading marksman Emmanuel Adebayor and defender Kolo Toure move to Manchester City for a combined total of £41million.

Yet despite the steady trickle of big names leaving, Rosicky is adamant that Arsenal have kept their best players and have still got enough quality to challenge for the title this season.

The Czech returned to first-team action against Barnet last month after 18 months out with hamstring and ankle problems.

He didn't feature in the three following matches because of a minor setback, but played in the first half of Saturday's Emirates Cup win over Atletico Madrid and made a late substitution appearance against Rangers yesterday.

He said: "I don't think the best players have left. We have still got [Andrey] Arshavin, [Cesc] Fabregas and they are still great players.

"I don't see it this way. I don't see why we should be afraid of anyone. I see the potential and think we need to focus on what we have got.

"We have got plenty of options and that is why I feel we will be stronger than last season - because the boss will have more options.

"We know what we have to do better and we are not blind. I can see the positives. I hope we can achieve something together and we will fight for trophies this year.

"If the boss decides to buy someone that is always good and will give us another option. But I think even if he doesn't, we have plenty of options."

Arsenal showed they can cope without Adebayor and Toure as they lifted the Emirates Cup yesterday, cruising to a 3-0 win over Rangers yesterday to add to their late victory against Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

The star man on show for Arsene Wenger's side was teenage midfielder Jack Wilshere, who scored two goals and showed he could become a real talent this season after picking up the man of the match award for both games.

The 17-year-old has already shown he has the temperament to compete at the highest level and must have impressed the watching England boss Fabio Capello.

Few England fans will forget Sven-Goran Eriksson's bold move to include Theo Walcott at just 17 for the World Cup squad back in 2006.

But with the next tournament in South Africa just a year away, Wenger is pleading with the nation not to get carried away.

Wenger said: "Let's be calm and quiet. The World Cup is next year, there's still a year to go so let's first see how Jack improves. Let's not make stars from two games.

"The only problem in England, knowing the impatience of English people, [is that] it will be difficult to keep the right pace of his progress.

"It is difficult to say how much he will play. I build him, put him in the dressing room at 16 years of age to give him a chance to practise every day with first-team players.

"He has benefited a lot from that special treatment, an acceleration of his education."

Wenger has been strongly linked with a move for his former skipper Patrick Vieira, but the emergence of Wilshere may force the Arsenal boss to switch his attentions elsewhere.

Vieira, 33, is still unsure over his long-term future and Wenger admitted a decision will be made in the next few days, saying: "Would I like to work with Patrick again? I have no personal problem with Patrick at all; I have a huge respect for him. We have a very good relationship.

"It is a general policy [not to re-sign players] but I never said I would never do it. Patrick is a great player. I have not considered it yet to bring him back; it is a possibility that I have to think about.

"First of all, it is not sure that he will decide to join us if I decide to try to make him come. So there is a lot of thinking to be done."

ARSENAL IS TRYING SAME THING AND WISHING FOR DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE.WHERE IS THE LOGIC.THE LENSES I PUT ON IS REFRACTIVE:SEEING DIFFICULTY IN THE OPPORTUNITY AND OPPORTUNITY IN THE DIFFICULTY SAME TIME.IS ARSENAL BUSINESSLIKE OR JUST GAMBLING WITH THEIR FANS PATIENCE.I ENJOYED GOOD FOOTBALL AND WILL NOT BE BROKENHEARTED IF THINGS TURN OTHERWISE.I AM A UNATTACHED ADMIRER BUT NONE OF A FAN.

Brian, 'how awful and truly soul- destroying it must be for the fans of other lesser teams in London'...

Eh?,... cop yourself on and have a little sit down. Arsenal will be lucky to have a starting 11 that doesn't include the grounds keeper at the rate they are selling players...

If you think you're going to win the EPL this season, I'll take any bet you're willing to lay...

In the absence of injuries and national call-ups and fatigue then Arsenal will not have to buy anyone. However life is more complicated than that. Wenger needs to buy so that he can compete on all fronts without fear of fatigue. Gibbs, Randall, Simpson, Emmanuel-Thomas, Watts, Merida and three or more Reserve team players will all chip in a few games here and there to build a dynasty of youth to dominate the Premiership on the cheap.

Just how fantastic are The Arsenal? Well, the answer is - they are truly magnificent, how awful and truly soul- destroying it must be for the fans of other lesser teams in London.

I cant wait for the new EPL season and another title for the glorious-gunners!
