Chamakh voices anger at Bordeaux for 'pricing him out of Arsenal move'

3 Aug 2009

Marouane Chamakh has lashed out at Bordeaux for standing in his way of a "dream" move to Arsenal.

Chamakh has made it clear to wants to leave Les Girondins for the English Premier League but has yet to find a club.

The Morocco striker claims Bordeaux are pricing him out of a move to Arsenal, although the Gunners have refused to confirm whether they have made a bid for the 25-year-old.

In an interview with French daily newspaper L'Equipe, Chamakh said he believes he deserves better after seven years at the Gironde club.

"I am angry. I am even disgusted. I don't understand why people are doing this to me", he said.

"Ever since I've played football, I've given my all for this club and for the fans. I believe I deserve more consideration."

Chamakh has also been linked with Sunderland this summer.

But Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc insisted he would not sanction a switch to the Black Cats, maintaining he will only let his striker move to a team he estimates are of a higher standing than Les Girondins.

Chamakh added: "To go to Arsenal, it's my dream. I am a year from the end of my contract and the club (Bordeaux) wants to make it all about money. What the club is asking for isn't fair.

"With (Bordeaux coach) Laurent Blanc, everything is clear. Even though I wanted to go to a club like Sunderland, I can understand that the coach sees things like that, that he reckons it is a step back.

"But now, it is a club from England's big four."
Chamakh did not play a part in Bordeaux's 2-0 win over Villarreal last night.

The club released a statement which said the striker had fallen ill over the weekend.

Gooners wake up & smell the tea (poor mans coffee)You have no money!!!You are selling your players at boot sales!!!All to pay for that fabulous new stadium!!!What makes you think that you are a big club? You have only just scraped that 4TH position in the past 4 years & your comfort bubble is about to burst.
At the rate you are improving you will be lucky to finish 6TH or 7TH.
Still you lot wrote the book when it comes to excuses.

I don't know about you lot but is he the type of player that we need? I'm not sure. He didn't score too many last season nor do I expect him to benefit us. We need a proven goal scorer and I keep on saying this but get Huntelaar we all know his pedigree he would be a worth while aquisition and at £15-£17m a very good buy. If npot for anything else at least stop the spuds from buying him!!!

He is welcome, and I hope it will be this window. We need a target man for route one. Clubs are likely to play very defensively against us, so we need a big fella to help Bendtner if there is an injury. Besides we are challenging for four trophies and need a big squad to combat fatigue and injuries.

Uhmm! It does not look great. I hope it doesn't become the Flamini- Adebayor circus/saga again where we are left with the damage limitation excercise after signing him. I trust Wenger will do the right thing for the club.

As he only has a year left on his current agreement, it would be foolish not sell him now. The alternative is that he signs next season for nothing! In any event reports are that he is in London at present, although if its Arsenal then its strange as Wenger stated he is not looking to purchase offensive players!

Coach promises to let Chamakh go only if he joins big club. Chamakh, tell Blanc that you are going to Emirates stadium and not White Hart Lane.

Hmm. He sounds like a bit of a douchebag to me. We just offloaded one mouthy self-delusional in Adebayor. A possible replacement? I see now what AW means.
