Aquilani move rests on Alonso leaving
4 Aug 2009Alberto Aquilani will join Liverpool as soon as Xabi Alonso's switch to Real Madrid is complete.
Negotiations are at an advanced stage between the Anfield club and Roma over an £18million deal for the 25-year-old midfielder, who has been capped 11 times by Italy.
However, a final agreement has been put on hold until Alonso's future is resolved.
The 27-year-old Spain midfielder has submitted a transfer request and talks between the clubs are ongoing although Real have yet to meet Liverpool's £30m valuation.
