Chamakh's dream move to Arsenal could be back on

Bordeaux president JeanLouis Triaud says he could grant Marouane Chamakh his dream move to Arsenal if Arsene Wenger increases his offer for the striker.

While Triaud values the 25yearold at £13million he says that Wenger has so far bid only half that.

The Arsenal boss is reluctant to go higher because Chamakh will be out of contract next summer and he said at the weekend that the club's interest in the Moroccan is "terminated at the moment".

However, Triaud is now willing to negotiate and said: "It's up to Arsene to see what he wants to do. We have always said we would listen to the player but not just in any way for any amount."

Wenger has been looking for a striker since Emmanuel Adebayor joined Manchester City last month.

The manager has made only one signing this summer - centre-back Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax for £10m - and Chamakh is anxious to be the second arrival at the club.

Speaking before today's developments, Chamakh said: "To go to Arsenal, it's my dream. Bordeaux want to make it all about money and it isn't fair."

I think wenger know the quality of chamakh more than anyone else - chamah is more tha scorer he has also under his belt 11 assists - few players in europe have that record if this guy went to arsenal he will developp to great player

I wasnt sure about Chamakh at first, but I trust Wengers nose for a good player at a fair price,we are in a strong position because unlike the moneygrabber Adebayor,Chamakh has stated it is his dream to play for Arsenal, this player has risen through the ranks at Bordeaux, who are not a bad club and you cannot blame them for trying to haggle, but I personally think 10million is the ceiling on price, seeing as he only has 1 year left on his contract. The way Arsene Wenger is conducting business in the transfer market is the way it should be done, quality players at reasonable prices not silly money like Man City are paying.I think by the start of the season Arsene will have signed three quality player 1 striker,1 midfielder,1 centre back, this will be a good season for Arsenal, top three no problem.

It will be a bonus if we sign him because he loves us and Arsene has the jigsaw piece in the Premiership puzzle in hand. He might come in January for much less or for free in July next year if he exercises patience. I think his present club should be grateful for £6 million. There are other more lethal strikers at Arsenal, he will be competing for a place with Bendtner. We actually need a BIG or PHYSICAL midfielder and central defender with height. We need Huntelaar because he can be made to play the Arsenal way and he is better than Torres imho.

I too am unsure of this guy; plus i'd feel better if we spent the money gained from selling 'THE GUY FROM TOGO'on a CDM like...Veloso or Blaise; But hey, No matter who we buy or don't buy...we will still be up there with the top four and in CL.

I think looking at it wenger doesn't want a striker who just score goals which is probably why the huntelaar deal hasn't come to anything. The way we appear to be set up this year we need versatility in our forwards and looking at it chamakh looks a lot more versatile than huntelaar

I'm really not convibced by Chamakh, his scoring rate is OK, nothing special. Cleary AW knows far more about the guy than I do - but I am underwhelmed by the idea of signing him.

P.S But am v optimistic about the season.
