Andy Scott could leave key men out of Brentford cup clash

10 Aug 2009

Brentford boss Andy Scott could rest players against Bristol City in the Carling Cup tomorrow so they are fresh for Saturday's League One clash with Brighton.

Last season's League Two champions got off to the perfect start this season with a 3-1 win over Carlisle.

The boss said: "We want to keep momentum up but the league is more important than the cup game."

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson saw his side begin life in League One with a 3-2 win over Wycombe but knows the squad lacks depth.

Parkinson said: "We are short on numbers and that's something we need to rectify very quickly."

New signing Jimmy Smith was the Leyton Orient hero as they beat Bristol Rovers 2-1.

Manager Geraint Williams said: "That strike was world class."

Millwall drew 1-1 at Southampton but manager Kenny Jackett is eager to sign a defender.

He said: "We are working really hard to find someone."
