Damien Duff has dismissed concerns about his fitness as he looked forward to reviving his career with Fulham.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder has joined in a £4million move from Newcastle, where his three-year stay was affected by injury.

But he said: “I'm grand. My last proper injury was two and a half years ago with a badly broken foot and I've only had a couple of niggles since.”

Newcastle were relegated from the Premier League in May and Duff admitted his time at the club was his hardest in football .

“I gave it my all but for whatever reason it didn't work out,” he said. “I didn't really enjoy my football up there.”

The 30-year-old decided to join Fulham because he was eager to play again for boss Roy Hodgson.

“It was a no brainer coming to Fulham once I heard of their interest,” he said. “I worked with Mr Hodgson 12 or so years ago at Blackburn and he's top notch. It's always shocked me he hasn't got a mention to be England manager.”

Hodgson confirmed his club are in talks with West Brom over a £4m bid for midfielder Jonathan Greening.
