Reading’s late move for £1.8m Tommy Smith deal

Reading appear to have hi-jacked Sheffield United's move for Watford striker Tommy Smith.

He was expected to join United after their £1.8million bid was accepted but reports today said Smith was having a medical at Reading.

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock is confident of signing Claude Davis from Derby, provided the club's transfer embargo is lifted by the Football League before the window closes at the end of the month.

Queens Park Rangers are set to miss out on Jermaine Beckford after Leeds refused them permission to speak to him. The striker is out of contract at the end of the season.

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson will make a move for Leyton Orient defender Tamika Mkandawire once Andy Gray completes his £600,000 move to Barnsley this week.

Leyton Orient boss Geraint Williams urged his side to shape up after Saturday's 3-3 draw at Yeovil. He said: “We look good but little lapses are costing us.”

Brentford boss Andy Scott set Cleveland Taylor a 10-goal target after his strike earned a 1-1 draw at Southampton.

Barnet were praised by boss Ian Hendon after a1-0 win at Torquay. He said: “They threw everything at us.”  

Dagenham & Redbridge slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Notts County but boss John Still said: “They're only kids. I have to be realistic.”

Jobi McAnuff didnt play at the weekend & has had mysterious illness's in pre-season. I have a suspicion that he is moving either to Reading or Ipswich.
