Leyton Orient hope to hold on to Andros Townsend
27 Aug 2009Orient manager Geraint Williams is confident Tottenham will allow teenage winger Andros Townsend's loan spell to be extended.
The 18-year-old, who is at Brisbane Road for a month, was outstanding in his adopted side's extra-time Carling Cup defeat by Stoke City.
The England Under-19 player came close to opening the scoring on a number of occasions as the Premier League club struggled to get past their League One opponents last night.
Williams said: "We are talking all the time with Tottenham. They are delighted with what's happening with the boy here."
Orient were sunk by a Dave Kitson volley in the fourth minute of extra-time, with goalkeeper Glenn Morris beaten from 30 yards.
Williams added: "It is our best performance so far this season and I'm proud of the lads. The only disappointment is that having gone to extra-time we're not in the next round."
