Fulham players laugh in the face of death

27.08.09

Fulham have laughed off bizarre attempts by Russian football fans to intimidate them ahead of their Europa League group stage qualifier at Amkar Perm.

Roy Hodgson's side arrived at Perm Airport to be greeted by around 20 Amkar supporters dressed up as grim reapers and holding a long banner displaying a grave for Andy Johnson, the striker seriously injured in the first leg won 3-1 by Fulham, flanked by coffins for his team-mates.

Defender Aaron Hughes said: "It was different, the funniest welcome I've ever seen anywhere I've played.

"I don't think it was particularly sinister and none of us took it like that. It was quite light-hearted and I don't think there was any bad intention."

Sounds like a very english sense of humour but there is a German bakers near me using a black van with the words We are not the undertakers we are the master bakers on it so we are not alone.
