Spurs bound? Sandro could be moving to White Hart Lane

Spurs close to signing £16m Brazil star Sandro

28 Aug 2009

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is understood to be close to concluding a deal for Internacional midfielder Sandro.

Spurs had a bid of around £14million rejected but they haven't given up and Levy has been in Brazil for several days in a bid to personally seal the move before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.

Manager Harry Redknapp is keen to sign another strong defensive player to line up alongside Wilson Palacios and Sandro is now their first choice after Toulouse demanded £25m for Moussa Sissoko.

Internacional are asking for as much as £26m but Spurs are still hopeful they can get him for around £16m.

The deal is complicated because 30 per cent of his rights are owned by investors and Sandro may struggle to get a work permit as he has not yet played for Brazil, although he was called into their World Cup squad this week. Spurs are pressing on with the deal and there is still a possibility Jermaine Jenas will be sold to Aston Villa to fund the move.

Standard Sport understands they have already rejected one offer from Martin O' Neill's side because it was too low, but they expect them to come back.

One player who appears to have a future at Spurs is David Bentley. Villa want the midfielder but Redknapp feels he can provide plenty of assists for Peter Crouch, like he did for the striker's goal in Wednesday's 5-1 win at Doncaster.

Should that be NEAR Crackpot, or is it a typo?

Enfield Spurs, Enfield.

The only quality Brazilians you'll get at White Hart Lane will be in a bar of Cadburys.

Born, bred in sarf west London me, me old mucker. First game, saw one of your heroes (if he isn't, he should be), Greavesy, in 1958/59 in one of his last games for the mighty Blues. Looking forward to our visit to Three Points Lane very soon.

Enjoy your stay at the top, it won't last long. Even 'Arry knows that (so should you and all your deluded chums).

Well lets think on this one, Jenas cost us 8 million, so why not, he can play different positions and he is young, but can take us to the next level, like to see Petrov from Man City....
Guys, think of long term, he can team up with Dos Santos...

'Arry's like a kid in the preverbial sweet shop at the moment. Brazilian's, generally, don't travel to the Premiership that well (especially the young ones) and £16m ? Blimey.

The fact that the Manager let's Ledley King get away with no training, turn up on the morning of a match and allows him to pick himself (when he can be bothered to play) is, frankly, farcical. That said, I suppose a Brazilian would fit nicely into such a cavalier-type structure. Who needs team spirit ? Obviously not Uncle 'Arry.

One way or another, make no mistake, it's all gonna go 'orribly wrong for the old cockney sparra - it's the Tottenham way.

Levy was at Internacional tieing up a link between the clubs, so may be nothing in the Sandro rumour! Mind you could be the start of some quality brazilians at the Lane!

He is holding the u-20 south american championship trophy which Brazil won earlier this year and he captained. Reports from Brazil say he has been pretty sensational for Internacional this season. I understand Harry really wants to build on some flare we have and this guy seems to have everything. He wants someone strong like Palacios but with a bit of quality and he has it. Trick will be if he can adapt to the premier league and produce that so this could be an expensive gamble.

I think I should clear this one up as it is a typo.
Remember when Benty missed the open goal and Rednapp said his Mrs could have scored from there, well apparently SANDRA has been at the training ground and impressed Mr Levy with her ability to put them in the onion bag and recently when visiting the beauty salon, she was rumoured to have had a Brazilian hair style done (if you know what I mean. the headline should read
HARRY'S MRS HAS CLOSE SHAVE BRAZILIAN. ;-)

Lots of ifs and buts to this speculation - but let's wait and see. By the way, any Spurs fans out there who know the score on Sandro (looked like he was holding silverware on the pic).
