Playing safe: having guided Fulham into the Europa League, Roy Hodgson will not treat the competition as his priority

Fulham face tough draw and six refs

Fulham have been handed a tough Europa Cup draw against Roma, Basle and Bulgarian champions CSKA Sofia.

And it was then announced that the competition will be officiated by six match officials in a UEFA experiment.

The customary four-man team of referee, two assistants and a fourth official will be supplemented with two more assistant referees who will take up positions alongside each goal.

UEFA say this will provide two extra pairs of eyes to monitor the game and inform the referee of incidents he may otherwise have missed.

Europe will not be a priority for Fulham boss Roy Hodgson, whose side beat Russians Amkar Perm 3-2 on aggregate to reach the group stage.

He said: "If people are now expecting me to play three times a week with the same XI, then that will be a mistake. It won't happen. We won't be giving the Europa League priority, that's for sure."

Everton are in the same group as Benfica, AEK Athens and Belarus champions BATE Bosisov
