Biggest threat: Porto striker Hulk made a huge impression on his Champions League debut last season even though he failed to score a goal

Porto manager Jesualdo Ferreira believes Chelsea are the best team in England but he remains hopeful his side can secure their first victory in European competition on English soil tonight.

Chelsea lead the Premier League after winning their first five games and are playing some sublime football under new coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Porto have failed in 12 attempts to win in England and are not expected to cause Chelsea many problems at Stamford Bridge.

Ferreira is fully aware of the tough task facing his players but feels they could still cause a shock result.

He said: "I think Chelsea at the moment are the strongest team in England. To play at Stamford Bridge isn't going to be easy for us but over the last three years we have always qualified for the next stage.

"There will be a moment when we can achieve what we want, which is to win the game, but I recognise Chelsea are very strong.

"They have very good players who are mature and very experienced. They have been playing together for a very long time.

"They are the strongest team in this phase. But we also have a very strong team. We want to keep our own identity and will play the way we always do.

"I don't know why we can't beat English teams in England. I hope this will change under my management, but I don't have an explanation."

Porto's biggest threat comes in the shape of striker Hulk, who impressed on his debut in the competition last season even though he failed to score a goal.

Former Porto keeper Vitor Baia, who won the Champions League with the club in 2004 and now works as their director of public relations, insists the 23-year-old will give Chelsea problems.

He said: "Last year, he played only a few Champions League games for us, but this year he has the chance to have a continued run in the team. He'll explode in competitive terms, without a doubt.

"He's got great qualities and speed. He is very strong. I think he is a player to watch."
