Tomas Rosicky today claimed he can be the creative spark to help Arsenal finally end their four-year search for a trophy.

The Czech midfielder made his first start at club level in 20 months as the Gunners came from two goals down to beat Standard Liege 3-2 at Stade Maurice Dufrasne.

Although Rosicky admits he is some way from finding his best form after suffering persistent hamstring and knee problems, the 28-year-old believes he can play a major part in securing the club's first silverware since 2005.

"It was a great feeling when I came back and I got a great reception from the fans," he said.

"I am fired up to win a trophy and enjoying being back. Its good that I can be part of this team again.

"If you are out for so long, like I was, it is very frustrating. But that is behind me already and I am just enjoying the time I am fit.

"The boss has another option with me in the creative part of the game and he still has Nasri to come back. Offensively we are very strong and I can help with that.

"I have to take things step by step. I played an hour for the national team, then 30 minutes at Manchester City and now 70 minutes here. I have to improve in fitness to be back where I was before and I still have a lot of work to do."

Gunners skipper Cesc Fabregas believes the team showed their true fighting spirit despite a terrible start.

He said: "In the first few minutes it is always possible you don't start at your best and that is what happened but we responded well as a team.

"We knew we had the whole game in front of us and that can make a difference. So it was not difficult to keep believing."

Fabregas also believes he paid the price for being too honest as Arsenal fell behind to two early goals in the first five minutes last night.

The Spaniard claims he was fouled in the build-up to Standard's first goal but chose not to go down injured as he feared he would be labelled a cheat.

He said: "It's true that they have hit me two times in the face. Maybe I am very small and they are very big but they always catch me on the face. But if you go down, they say that you cheat so you try to be nice and stay on your feet.

"But after I got caught they scored a goal. Sometimes this happens in football."
