Emmanuel Adebayor says he's been hurt after being hit with stamp ban

Emmanuel Adebayor today claimed he was the victim and not the aggressor in last week's match between Arsenal and Manchester City at Eastlands.

Adebayor accused some Arsenal players of refusing to shake his hand, slammed fans for abusing him non-stop and pointed the finger at Arsene Wenger for selling him for £25million behind his back.

The Togo striker was yesterday handed a three-game suspension for violent conduct after stamping on Robin van Persie's face.

An investigation into his provocative goal celebration could extend that ban and prompt a heavy fine as City have until 30 September to respond to a charge of improper conduct.

Adebayor, banned for Sunday's Manchester derby at Old Trafford, said: "I think, in terms of class on the pitch, we have overtaken Arsenal and that was a reason for some of the hostility. There were players from Arsenal who refused to shake my hand before the match. I don't want to give you their names - that is not my style - but there's more than one of them.

"My friends, like Emmanuel Eboue, were fine with me. They are decent people. But I could not understand some of the Arsenal players being disrespectful.

"These are people I have spent a lot of time with and people I thought were my friends.

"I can just about understand the fans' reaction because they don't know the full story. It wasn't my fault I left, it was Arsene who wanted to accept the offer for me.

"However, the way some of the players behaved is just crazy.

"When a man offers you his hand, you shake it. For them to act like that was a disgrace."

Cesc Fabregas and Emmanuel Eboue both today revealed their anger at their former team-mate's aggression towards Arsenal.

Fabregas was left with a 3inch gash across his leg and told The Sun: "We don't think about him any more. He doesn't play for Arsenal so we just have to concentrate on our game and our players."

And Eboue, added: "What he did is not good for football."

Van Persie could return for tomorrow's home Premier League clash with Wigan.

I've stopped hating Adebayor because I have realised that he's actually quite deluded with poor people skills. I've met quite a few people like him - he doesnt accept responsibility and goading and insulting him makes him even less receptive to external criticism. He needs a good therapist, not opprobrium from chavs in the stands.

The Man U v Man City game wont be the same... well done the FA..! What next? We bring a hamper to matches with a sun umbrella..?

Sanitising the game... I was looking forward to Adebayor giving Man U a run for their money and running rings round them.

I'm I guessing that there are one or two Man U supporters on the disciplinary panel that hurried the decision forward in their terror of being shown up by a genius footballer in his prime, so they wont have to face a devastingly in-form Adebeyor?

The game of the season.. ruined..!

Like the Govt... they BAN everything fun..!

After every game that Arsenal lose, there's an inquest. Why? Simply because Arsenal FC their manager and fans demand one, whether it is deserved or not. Conveiniently the Arsenal fans racial abuse of Adebayor has been ignored despite million of people seeing and hearing it on MOTD.

One rule for gooners and another for Milwall, West Ham, and Portsmouth.

One ManCity fan from Sweden has the nail on the head. His popularity is just about peaked and beginning to wane. He will soon spank one of his team mates for not cleaning his boots properly!!!! He does not know when to be quiet, when to be humble, when to slow down. The curse of the Togo nation for letting them down is on him and he will bring ManCity down to his level soon. Mark Hughes almost made the fatal mistake by condoning his behaviour. Someone sensible must have told them to accept the charge and lessen the fine. A pity Arsenal did not include the stamp on Fabregas' ankle. That would have increased the ban. I hope the FA have that in mind when they punish him for his misconduct charge, as his attitude in that match was completely out of order.

City fans, this is what you're getting. Wenger isn't stupid, he knew what he was selling. Watch as Adebayor's goals dry up - he is a confidence player who scores in patches. With so much competition for places he will get dropped and starts causing massive trouble inside the club. By next summer he will be courting every club in Europe, but who will pay his wages? You'll be stuck with him.

He should keep his mouth shut and accept what he did was totally wrong and needs to be punished. The fact that his club have been silent and the 100th man, Hughes, hasnt said a word in his defence must surely make him realise he is on his own in his view of events. I am sure the £160,000 per week will help to ease the pain.

Poor thing feels 'hurt' - bless!

Perhaps Robin van or Cesc Fabregas can explain what real hurt feels like! Alternatively he can stop being arrogant and develop some class......

Adebayors ego knows no bounds, the Arsenal players who refused to shake his hand should be applauded for their actions, these are the players who carried him for a full season when his move to AC Milan fell through, and he turned up to make up the numbers.Even his so called friend Eboue has turned against him.Apart from the striping off RVP ,he is lucky he has not broken Cescs leg,I would not want to be in his boots for the return fixture, although with the added pressure to perform for the extra money at City I dont think this is the last time we will see this player before the F.A. .The 3 match ban is not enough it should have been 6.

Hark at the Arsenal fans complaining about someone being a little too physical.

The "three inch gash" will be nothing more than a scratch - and it happens in every game every week. Stop whining.

He kicked Van Persie (many of us have wanted to kick that vile little cheat, so I applaud that) and he got a three game ban. There are unconfirmed reports that it was a six game ban but that this was reduced due to the brilliance of the goal celebration.

If it had been anyone else there wouldn't have been the whining.

First he stamps on Fabregas almost braking his ankle, then stamps on van Persies head almost taking his eye out, then he runs 90 meters towards the Arsenal fans after scoring a goal
Who is really a victim here?

The 3 match ban is a slap on the wrist because the FA failed to examine the seriousness of Adebayor's actions.
A stamp in the face to Van Persie, a 3 inch gash to Cesc, and he is only given a 3 game ban.
Adebayor is complaining, when he should have told his agent to stop selling him to another club which will give him more money. His deal with Milan was nearly done 2years ago.
Now he went to City for more pay, what is he complaining about??

Well hes not a very smart person, is he? He pretty much confesses that because some players didnt shake his hand before the game he would try to hurt them during.. It was obvious that hes not professional enough to cope with taunts abuse from arsenal fans at the stadium (id assume hes gonna be "injured" for the return to emirates) but this i just awful. 3 match ban not enough.. What he did is worse than what Pepe got 10 matches for cause it was repeated stamps throughout the game and the assault at RvP was aimed at his face and couldve ended up injuring him for life..

Shut it are you trying to lengthen your ban? Becuase of your selfish attitude we are going to have it tough in this weekends derby. You want to be loved, find a woman. I thought we got a good deal when Mark Hughes bought him and Wenger was naive to sell him, but from his behaviour and his mouth I think we could have big problems with him and his attitude with other big players in our team and its now obvious why he was sold by arsenal. We have the resources we should try to get him off before we really mess up and get someone else. His ego is too big and Mark Hughes should put him in his place as he probably thinks that he is indispensable as he has been scoring at all the matches.

Like van Persie, I'd rather be 'hurt' briefly, than facially scarred ... for life!
