No cash left at Pompey, says Peter Storrie

1 Oct 2009

Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie said today there is “no money left” at the club and that they needed refinancing quickly.

He spoke out as the club admitted players had not been paid this week due to “a delay in the transfer of funds” following Sulaiman Al Fahim's recent takeover.

Storrie said: “All the money from all the player transfers and the Sky TV money, all of the £35million from January, has gone straight to the Standard Bank. There is no money left.

“Whatever we spend on a monthly basis comes channelled through from the new owner. He has promised to re-finance, and has shown me all the documentation.”

Portsmouth said the outstanding wages will be paid over the weekend.
