Since England's World Cup qualifier with Ukraine will be shown exclusively on the internet with a top commentary team' we recall 5 of the biggest pundit gaffes.

Rodney Marsh

Marsh was axed by Sky Sports after making bad taste tsunami joke involving David Beckham turning down a £10 million contract at Newcastle.

Alan Pardew

Pardew caused the BBC much embarrassment on Match of the Day 2 when he compared a Michael Essien tackle to rape, saying, “he absolutely rapes him.”

Ron Atkinson

Ron Atkinson, former manager and pundit, brought his career in football quickly to a halt with one of the most inescapable gaffes in history with his racist comment about Marcel Desailly when he thought he was off air.

Now we move on to our first repeat offender…Trevor Brooking

• “Unfortunately, we don't get a second chance.”
• “We've already played them twice.”
• “Historically, the host nations do well in Euro 2000.”
• “It's end to end stuff, but from side to side.”

The master of pundit and commentary gaffes…David Pleat

• “A game is not won until it is lost.”
• “Eighty per cent of teams who score first in matches go on to win them. But they may draw some. Or occasionally lose.”
• Pleat: “The Swedish only have ten minutes to do something should they want to stay in the competition”
Clive Tyldesley: “There's still 26 minutes left of the match”
Pleat: “Oh dear I forgot to put my watch back to Swiss time.”
• “Marseille needed to score first, and that never looked likely once Liverpool had taken the lead”
• “We are now in the middle of the centre of the first half.”
• “This is a real cat and carrot situation.”
