Michael Carrick: We're going all out to finish with a perfect record

Michael Carrick has insisted that there will be no let up by England even though they have already qualified for next summer's World Cup.

England travel to Ukraine on Saturday and then host Belarus at Wembley next Wednesday safe in the knowledge they are already guaranteed top spot in their group.

The Manchester United midfielder insisted though that Fabio Capello's men would be going all out to ensure they become the first England team to finish a qualifying campaign with a 100 per cent record.

Carrick said: "We must keep the momentum going and bounce into the World Cup.

"It seems a long time to go to the World Cup but there are not that many games left so we must get into good habits now.

"It would be a great achievement to win 10 games out of 10 and that would give us a lot of confidence and belief.

"It is something that we all want to do for the supporters and the country to give us a lift before we go to the tournament in South Africa next year."

Carrick has not started a competitive international since he played in the 2-0 defeat in Croatia in October 2006 as England failed to qualify for Euro 2008, but he is desperate to play on Saturday.

He added: "I was hoping to play, that's why I am here. It is three years since I started a qualifier so to be involved against Ukraine would be a really good test.

"The experience I have gained with Manchester United in the Champions League has helped me an awful lot.

"It is now up to me, if I get my chance, to keep hold of the shirt."
