Arsenal's Liam Brady to decide on Ireland future

08.10.09

Liam Brady is to discuss his Republic of Ireland future with Arsenal after being asked to stay on by manager Giovanni Trapattoni.

The Italian and assistant Marco Tardelli have had their contracts extended until 2012 and the Italian is keen to keep his team intact.

But Brady, who combines his international duties with his role as head of youth development and academy director for the Gunners, will speak to his club after the final World Cup qualifiers, against Italy on Saturday and Montenegro next Wednesday, before deciding.

He said: "I need to talk to Arsenal and I am going to do it when all this is concluded."

The Irish still have a chance of making the play-offs and Brady believes Trapattoni's retention was inevitable. He said: "With the results he has got, it's logical that he should have been re-confirmed."
