Under-21 clash to be screened free on FA site

08.10.09

The Football Association will broadcast the clash between England Under-21s and Macedonia tomorrow live for free on their website.

Setanta had the rights to the game at Coventry's Ricoh Arena and the senior side's clash with Ukraine 24 hours later but the company's demise has led to both matches now being on the internet rather than TV.

Yesterday the FA announced the Under-21 game would be screened on Chelsea TV, with fans only able to subscribe to the match if signed up with Sky or Tiscali. Chelsea TV costs £5.87 a month for subscribers.

The governing body have now decided to show it on www.thefa.com and said: "This is the best way to ensure as many fans as possible get the chance to see England's young stars for free."

England fans must pay up to £11.99 to watch the World Cup qualifier in Ukraine.
