Thierry Henry: We must prove spirit to fans

Thierry Henry has urged his France team-mates to do their utmost to get the fans back on their side during the World Cup qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Austria.

France are second in Group Seven, four points behind leaders Serbia in the race for an automatic place.

Henry says the players must build on last month's draw in Serbia to end the fans' disillusionment.

"If we don't go to the World Cup, everyone will suffer," he told L'Equipe. "But it's all our fault. It's up to us to give back to people the desire to believe in this team.

"The way the match went [against Serbia] leaves me thinking that this team has a spirit."

Serbia were warned by FIFA today they could be docked points if there is further crowd trouble in their two remaining qualifiers next week.

Disturbances marred the matches against France, Austria and Romania.
