Looking abroad: Sven-Goran Eriksson has been linked with a multi-million pound move for Roberto Mancini

Sven-Goran Eriksson will take his time finding new Notts County manager

13 Oct 2009

Big-spending Notts County today insisted they will not be rushed into appointing a new manager after axeing Ian McParland.

Former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson, now director of football at Meadow Lane, has been given the job of finding a top-level manager to lead County out of League Two and, eventually, into the top flight.

The Swede has been linked with a multi-million pound move for Roberto Mancini, who starred under Eriksson at Lazio, but County chairman Peter Trembling said: "We will take the appropriate amount of time to ensure we make the right appointment. This will be done to our own time schedule.

"Sven-Goran Eriksson will be responsible for this appointment."

McParland's departure followed former England defender Sol Campbell's shock walk-out. The club are being backed by wealthy Middle-East owners Munto Finance.
