Fabio Capello will experiment against Belarus

Fabio Capello admitted today that he will experiment with his England team tomorrow night in the final World Cup qualifier against Belarus at Wembley.

England will be without the injured Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard and the Italian coach admitted that there may be a "surprise" in his selection.

Capello said: "Rooney is very important player for us and for United and for that reason tomorrow we will play with a different style and different players. Rooney is important, he is the sort of player that I like in my team, but we have other important players who can win matches for us. Peter Crouch may come into my thinking.

"It is possible there may be some surprises tomorrow."

Crouch is likely to come in for Rooney and James Milner is being lined up for his first start.

But Capello insisted that Rio Ferdinand will start at the heart of his defence despite being guilty of the error that led to Robert Green's red card on Saturday.

He added: "I have a big confidence in Rio and I am sure that he will get better every match."
