Frannk Lampard and Deco
Blues brothers: Lampard says Deco gives Chelsea “something different”

Frank Lampard sees Deco as key man in title bid

Frank Lampard believes Deco has finally adapted to the Premier League and is tipping him to make the difference in Chelsea's title challenge.

Deco joined from Barcelona for £7.9million 15 months ago but has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge despite making a promising start.

The 32-year-old looked set to leave for Inter Milan in the summer only for the deal to fall through and new coach Carlo Ancelotti has given him a second chance.

Deco has impressed playing behind the front two where he has helped make Ancelotti's diamond midfield system work.

Lampard feels Deco's return to form is like having a new signing. He added: "Sometimes people underestimate how hard it is to come from another country and another culture to play.

"He started very well last year and got a few injuries along the way but he definitely gives us something different.

"We have a lot of power in our team but he gives us that little bit of inventiveness behind the strikers in midfield. If we can keep him playing at the level he is, he will be a huge asset for us."

Deco, who is set to make his 10th appearance of the season tomorrow when Chelsea host Blackburn, admits he has Ancelotti to thank for getting him back to his best.

He added: "It was important for me in the summer that I spoke to the manager and he told me he wanted me to stay. I'm happy to be here. It's good to have a manager who has confidence in me."

Jose Bosingwa could be back in the squad after a knee injury, while Didier Drogba returns to the side after his Euro suspension.

He had better do something this season as so far his drop in form from the player he once was makes Sheva look good!

You have got to be joking.

He definitely gives Chelsea something different: an inability to control the ball and a tendency to be caught in possession.
