Terry Brown: We'll adopt the Wimbledon cup spirit of old at The Den

AFC Wimbledon manager Terry Brown believes his team will be galvanised by the Wimbledon spirit of old when they face Millwall in the first round of the FA Cup tonight.

The Conference side, born out of the club who beat Liverpool in the 1988 Final, travel to The Den, where Kenny Jackett's men are undefeated in League One this season.

Brown said: "These fans started this club to enjoy themselves and bring back some of the spirit of the old Wimbledon. I am sure the old Wimbledon boys would be going to Millwall looking to win and we will be doing exactly the same.

"Millwall have more experience than us and are technically better, but all of that is out of the window in the Cup. Wimbledon have been built on a tradition of cup upsets and fans love being the underdogs."

Danny Kedwell, who has scored 11 goals for AFC this term, has recovered from a groin injury.

The winners of the match face a trip to Staines Town, who knocked out League Two Shrewsbury 1-0.

The Blue Square South side won thanks to Ali Chaaban's strike and manager Steve Cordery said: "There are three or four in this team that are good enough for League level. This was no fluke."

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson was fuming after the shock of the round, losing 1-0 to Northwich Victoria of the Blue Square North. He said: "We spoke about standing up to the fight. The commitment fell below that standard."

Brentford manager Andy Scott was also angry after his side were held 2-2 at Gateshead.

Scott, whose side will play Walsall if they win a replay, said: "We've allowed them to put pressure on us and we are giving away set-pieces."

Leyton Orient also need a replay after drawing 1-1 at Tranmere. The winners of that tie will be at home to Aldershot.

Barnet face a long trip in round two to Accrington Stanley after beating Darlington 3-1.
