Missing man: Nicolas Bendtner could be out of action until 2010

Arsenal blow as Nicolas Bendtner prepares for groin surgery

10 Nov 2009

Nicolas Bendtner has revealed he needs a groin operation which could rule him out until the new year.

The Danish international sustained the problem against Tottenham at the end of last month and boss Arsene Wenger had hoped he would only be ruled out for four weeks.

But the striker, 21, who has scored three goals this term, has confirmed he will have an operation tomorrow.

He said: "I will go on to have surgery on Wednesday. I don't know how long I will be out."

Arsenal, who climbed into second place in the Premier League with their 4-1 win at Wolves on Saturday, face a number of tough fixtures over the next few weeks.

The play London rivals Chelsea at Emirates Stadium on 29 November and also face Liverpool at Anfield two weeks later.

Bendtner has been more influential this season following the departure of Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City, but is unlikely to return in time for these matches.

Dont get me wrong, he wouldnt be in my first choice starting 11. But not a bad player to have on the bench!

cmon the arsenal!

As somebody that doesnt think Bendtner is as good as Bendtner thinks he is I am still waiting to be proven wrong.
All I can say is that of our strikers he will be the last to be missed - though that said I wish him a speedy recovery and an opportunity to prove me wrong!!!!

Yer I have, and I kind of know what you mean. But he has improved and will get better. Got to get behind the team, especially the younger boys who need the crowds support. His goal scoring record for the games he has stared is not bad at all. And like i said atleast he gives 100% and wants to play for us unlike hleb, flamini, ade etc

As a season ticket holder you should know better. Give the boy a chance, hes only young and WILL improve. Atleast he wants to play for arsenal and gives 100%
