I'll prove I've got the class to make finals, says Fabio Aurelio

Fabio Aurelio is relishing the prospect of beating England to boost his chances of making Brazil's squad for next summer's World Cup finals.

The Liverpool defender is yet to make his senior international debut but represented his country at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, where Brazil were beaten in the quarter-finals by eventual winners Spain.

Aurelio suffered with injuries while at Valencia and even when fit he faced an almost impossible task of dislodging Roberto Carlos from the Brazil left-back position.

Now 30, Aurelio's form at Anfield has warranted inclusion in Dunga's squad for tomorrow's friendly and next week's clash with Oman.

"The fact Dunga has tried out so many players means the door is still open," said Aurelio. "I want to make a good impression so I can stay in with a chance."

Dunga has called up more than 80 players during his three-year tenure in charge of Brazil and admits his mind is not made up over the final make-up of his squad to play in South Africa.

"Obviously, the ones who are getting called up on a regular basis have a head start," said the 1994 World Cup winner.

"They've already taken a big step. Let's face it, if I can't get a nucleus together after three years of work, then I should get the sack. But we'll be looking at everyone right up until the last day."

Dunga, who yesterday called up defender Thiago Silva after Benfica's Luisao had an operation to remove his appendix, continues to omit Ronaldinho from the squad but Brazil President Lula da Silva believes the AC Milan star will be selected for the finals.

"Ronaldinho can become our biggest weapon for 2010," he said.
