Phil Parkinson's rollicking sparks up Charlton

Nicky Bailey revealed some tough talking from manager Phil Parkinson inspired Charlton to thump Milton Keynes Dons 5-1.

Charlton went into Saturday's match with their promotion rivals on the back of three defeats in a row, including an FA Cup exit to non-League Northwich Victoria.

Despite falling behind after just 10 minutes at The Valley, Charlton roared back with goals from David Mooney, Bailey, Lloyd Sam, Sam Sodje and Deon Burton.

Midfielder Bailey said: "To hear [some criticism] from the manager was hard. You hope in the next few performances you can put it right."

Leyton Orient were sunk by their former striker Adam Boyd as they lost 1-0 at Hartlepool.

Boyd, who left in the summer, said: "A lot of texts are flying about. It's always nice to score against an old club but winning was the most important thing.

Dagenham went top of League Two after Mark Arber scored in the 1-0 win over Accrington Stanley.

Boss John Still said: "For us to be talked about in the mix for the top spots is a fairytale for us. We must do our best to stay there."

Barnet boss Ian Hendon wants more from his team after they drew 0-0 at home to Hereford. Hendon said: "I'm not happy with the performance."
